In November 2021, Master D. Abhiram was undergoing treatment for leukemia, his family navigating the long, uncertain days that cancer brings. That was when the Visakhapatnam Pandurangapuram Lions Club, District 316A, decided to stand beside him\u2014committing not to a single intervention, but to sustained support.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Today, Abhiram is cancer-free. He is back in school, playing cricket, and returning to everyday routines. His recovery became the starting point of the club\u2019s Signature Project: a Childhood Cancer Program shaped by a team of women Lions who placed equal importance on medical care and continuity.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Their approach has been practical and personal. Children such as Prasanna and Vinay receive ongoing assistance for treatment and nutrition, along with small gestures that matter\u2014toys, bicycles, and moments of normalcy during long hospital visits. The club also remembers Y. Sonakshi, a young artist whose paintings helped draw attention to the cause before her untimely passing. Her memory continues through the eleven children currently under the club\u2019s care.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The work extends beyond individual families. A contribution of \u20b922 lakhs to the Lions Cancer General Hospital has strengthened services for patients from Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. Partnerships with KGH and the HER Clinic have enabled breast and cervical cancer screenings. More recently, the club sponsored cervical cancer vaccinations for 21 adolescent girls.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

From feeding hospital inpatients to providing over \u20b92 lakhs in direct assistance and conducting awareness programs, the club\u2019s efforts reflect a style of leadership rooted in attentiveness and follow-through. Led entirely by women, the Visakhapatnam Pandurangapuram Lions Club shows how service grows stronger when care is steady. They chose to stay.
