As dawn broke over Kolkata on December 7, 2025, Deshapriya Park stirred earlier than usual. Braving the winter chill, nearly 1,500 people gathered with a shared purpose\u2014to walk for children fighting cancer. This was Pritam Lionathon 2.0, organised by Kolkata Grand Lions Club, District 322B1.<\/p>

The message was simple: Walk with Purpose. Walk with Pride. Walk with Heart. Cancer remains a leading cause of death for children and adolescents, and for families who face it, the road is long and uncertain. The gold ribbon that represents the cause serves as a reminder that awareness, early detection, and timely treatment can change outcomes. Through this Lionathon, Lions sought to carry that message beyond the event\u2014into everyday awareness and action.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The event began at 5:00 am. Participants took part in the 10 km and 5 km professional runs, while families and supporters joined the 3 km fun walk. As dignitaries carried the ceremonial torch, the mashal\u2019s flame moved steadily through the crowd, sparking awareness and offering hope. <\/p>

One of the most touching moments came from the participation of special children from Julian Day New Mission School. Their presence brought warmth and perspective, underscoring that the walk was not about distance covered, but about solidarity shown.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The event drew Lions leadership from across the organization\u2014International President A. P. Singh, Board Appointee PID Sangeeta Jatia, International Director Rajkumar Agarwal, and District Governor Manju Chamaria, along with several Past District Governors\u2014signalling that childhood cancer awareness remains a priority at every level of Lions service.<\/p>

Pritam Lionathon 2.0 was not defined by medals or finish lines.
