MD 318 Through the GAT Lens<\/strong>
Leadership, membership, and service form the foundation of the Global Action Team framework\u2014and together, they shape how Lionism grows, renews, and remains relevant. Across MD 318, these three focus areas are being advanced through initiatives that develop capable leaders, strengthen membership, and respond thoughtfully to community needs. Leadership Development<\/strong>
In District 318A, leadership development has been approached as a continuous process rather than a one-time intervention. Roaring Mondays, the district\u2019s flagship online learning initiative, was launched on July 7, 2025, and has since become a dependable platform for member education. Held every Monday from 8:15 pm to 9:15 pm IST, the weekly sessions focus on Lions knowledge, soft skills, and leadership development, providing members with consistent opportunities to learn and reflect.<\/p>

Coordinated by District GLT Coordinator A. Kabeer Das and inaugurated by GAT Area Leader Adv. A. V. Vamanakumar, the program has drawn wide participation from within the district and beyond. Trainers from diverse professional backgrounds lead the sessions, bringing practical perspectives to topics relevant to service leadership. By December 2025, Roaring Mondays had completed 26 episodes, with recordings shared on YouTube to extend access to those unable to attend the live sessions. Interactive discussions and question-and-answer segments have helped participants translate learning into improved personal effectiveness and stronger club-level engagement, while also fostering meaningful inter-district interaction.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Membership Growth<\/strong>
This has been another focus area across MD 318, particularly in Districts 318D1 and 318C. District 318D1, the newest district in the multiple, has delivered a strong first-year performance. Assigned a target of 295 new members and seven new clubs, the district achieved 115% of its recruitment goal. Five new clubs were chartered entirely with members recruited through BNI, reflecting effective community partnerships and outreach. The average age of members in these clubs is below 40, pointing to the successful induction of younger Lions. Changaramkulam Lions Club, chartered with 39 members, has since grown to 55, demonstrating sustained engagement beyond initial recruitment. These outcomes reflect the coordinated efforts of District Governor Anilkumar, GMT Coordinator Sanilkumar, and GET Coordinator Saji.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

District 318C has also reported strong results, ranking first in the Multiple District for new club formation and total net growth. The district has achieved 72% of its recruitment target and has already chartered 13 new clubs. Virtual Clubs have played a key role in this progress, including one chartered with 50 members. The district\u2019s performance underscores the leadership of District Governor Shine Kumar, along with GMT Coordinator Kurian Antony and GET Coordinator Najeeb, and their ability to adapt membership strategies to evolving contexts.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Service<\/strong>
The third pillar finds clear expression in \u2018Jeevam,\u2019 a lifestyle disease reversal program initiated in District 318E. Conceived through discussions between then District Governor CA T. K. Rejeesh and Lion Dr. M. V. Prasad, the program responds to the growing prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases. Launched on July 1, 2023, Jeevam is built on scientifically designed, non-pharmacological interventions, including guided exercise, yoga, breathing practices, and dietary modification, conducted daily from 6 to 7 am via Zoom.<\/p>

Now implemented across several districts of MD 318, Jeevam is approaching a significant milestone of 1,000 days on March 2, 2026. Guided by Lion Dr. M. V. Prasad and coordinated by Prakash Kani PMJF, with support from trained instructors, including Sri. Basant Kumar and Smt. Shyni Harish, the program emphasizes sustained lifestyle changes and long-term health management. Many participants have reported measurable improvements, including reduced dependence on medication under medical supervision.
