When International President A. P. Singh urged members to explore Service Tourism\u2014serving beyond their own geographical boundaries\u2014the Guwahati Kamrupa Lions Club, District 322G, responded promptly.<\/p>

Winter in parts of Assam is gentle for some, but harsh for those without shelter. Cold nights, damp fog, and inadequate clothing make the season difficult for daily wage workers, roadside vendors and families living in temporary settlements. In response, the club launched a month-long blanket distribution drive, partnering with other Lions Clubs across District 322G.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The journey began on December 5, 2025 in the historic town of Kailashsahar, in Tripura. Working alongside the Lions Clubs of Kailashahar, Kumarghat and Kanchanpur Hilly Warriors blankets were distributed to those most affected by the cold. From there, members travelled to Agartala, serving alongside several clubs from the city. Silchar was the next stop with members of the Barak Valley Lions Club participating in the drive.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Over the following weeks, the caravan of kindness moved steadily across Morigaon, Barpeta Road, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar Greater in Assam, and Tura in Meghalaya. On Christmas Day, several local clubs joined the effort in Guwahati. The final distribution took place in Udalguri on December 28, 2025.<\/p>

By the end of the month, members had covered approximately 3,219 kilometres, moving through plains and hilly terrain with a clear objective: to place a warm woollen blanket in the hands of someone who needed it. More than 5,000 blankets were distributed during the drive.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Service Tourism, in this instance, was not about travel alone. It was about shared work\u2014clubs stepping beyond familiar boundaries, planning together and serving together. What began as a call to act evolved into a coordinated district-wide effort, linking towns and cities through a simple, timely response to winter.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
