International Second Vice President Dr. Manoj Shah’s visits to MD 318 and MD 3234
The visit of International Second Vice President Dr. Manoj Shah to Kerala in July 2025 was marked by warmth, inspiration, and a celebration of Lionism. His presence at the Cabinet Installation Ceremonies of Districts 318D1 and 318A, added stature to the events and inspired members with his words of encouragement.
District 318D1 | OPA Royal Palace, Kottakkal | July 25, 2025
Dr. Manoj Shah served as the Installing Officer at the grand Cabinet Installation Ceremony of District 318D1. District Governor K.M. Anilkumar PMJF, together with his cabinet team, took the oath of office. In his address, Governor Anilkumar highlighted the district’s achievements—membership growth, the chartering of six new clubs, the addition of new Melvin Jones Fellows, and international recognition for meeting global targets.
Dr. Shah lauded the district’s performance and the well-planned ceremony, particularly commendable for a newly formed district. He also honoured leaders for contributions to membership, service, and LCIF support. The distinguished gathering included Past International Directors R. Murugan PMJF, Mathanagopal, and K.G. Ramakrishna Murthy; GAT Area Leader A.V. Vamankumar PMJF; LCIF Area Leader V. Amarnath PMJF; and MCC Rajan Namboothiri PMJF.
District 318C | Adlux International Exhibition Centre, Karukutty | July 26, 2025
The following day, International Second Vice President Dr. Manoj Shah, served as the Installing Officer for over 500 cabinet officers of District 318C. The Installation Ceremony was attended by more than 3,500 members.
District Governor K.B. Shinekumar outlined an ambitious plan for the year, announcing service projects worth ₹26 lakhs. These include the establishment of dialysis centres, launch of community kitchens, environmental initiatives, drug awareness campaigns, and digital libraries for schools.
A major highlight was the announcement of a ₹3 crore contribution by the K. Chittinaopilly Foundation for the construction of 100 homes for underprivileged families, a project that promises lasting community impact.
The performances by eminent percussionist Sivamani, recipient of the Padma Shri Award, and the Chemmeen Band, added colour and energy to the occasion.
District 318A |Town Hall, Kollam | July 27, 2025
Two days later, District 318A celebrated its 22nd Cabinet Installation at Town Hall, Kollam, attended by over 1,200 delegates. The event opened with a colourful region-wise parade and a spirited Shingarimelam performance. District Governor Jain C. Job arrived in an open jeep, accompanied by a galaxy of Lion dignitaries.
At the venue, Chief Guest and Installing Officer Dr. Manoj Shah and his spouse were offered a traditional welcome. He delivered an inspiring speech before installing the cabinet, after which several projects were launched, including the flagging off of a school bus for children with disabilities under a Leo initiative.
The visit also saw a dinner meeting with 86 new Melvin Jones Fellows. Adding to the distinction, the District Administration secured State Guest status for Dr. Shah.
District 3234-H1 | Bhandara, Maharashtra | August 1, 2025
It was a milestone moment as International Second Vice President Dr. Manoj Shah, on his first visit to Bhandara, graced the Installation Ceremony of District 3234-H1 on August 1, 2025.
More than 830 Lions gathered at Bhandara, Maharashtra for the Cabinet Installation ceremony of District 3234-H1 led by District Governor Bharat Bhalgat. The event held special significance for Lions of the district – the visit of International Second Vice President Dr. Manoj Shah from Kenya, accompanied by his spouse. It was the first time in the district’s history that an International Vice President from outside India was part of the cabinet installation.
Dr. Shah, serving as Chief Guest and Installing Officer, administered the oath of office to the new district team and held a spirited interaction with members. In his keynote address, he emphasized MISSION 1.5, urging Lions to expand membership and strengthen reporting in order to achieve service goals. He also underlined the pivotal role of LCIF in driving meaningful impact worldwide.
International Director Pankaj Mehta inspired the gathering with his reflections on servant leadership and the enduring spirit of service.
The ceremony was marked by significant achievements: three Lead Donors contributing US$25,000 each, pledges from 18 new Melvin Jones Fellows, and recognition of 48 MJF recipients whose contributions had been made in the first 150 days of the year. A special press release highlighting Lions’ activities was also presented, along with an interview of Dr. Shah.
With renewed energy and purpose, the Lions of District 3234-H1 pledged their commitment to growth and service, setting their sights firmly on MISSION 1.5.
