Young Minds, Big Battles

Bombay King’s Circle Lions Club hosts a spirited city-wide quiz

On a November morning in Matunga East, Mumbai, 342 students from 23 schools filed into Shree Lakhamshi Nappoo Hall in their school uniforms, lanyards around their necks and excitement written across their faces. They were there to compete in The Big Brain Battle 2025, an inter-school quiz organized by the Bombay King’s Circle Lions Club, District 3231-A1.

Held on November 11, 2025, the event brought together 86 teams of Grade 7 to 9 students for a three-stage contest featuring an elimination round of 40 questions, semi-finals and a grand finale that narrowed the field to six teams. Quiz Master Meghashyam Shirodkar kept the momentum high throughout, turning each round into an experience students are likely to remember long after the scorecards are put away.

Shishuvan School took the top prize, with IES Orion and Trinity International School placing second and third. The trophy moment — students lifting the winner’s cup above their heads — captured exactly what Lions had hoped to create: a platform where knowledge, confidence and teamwork shared the same stage.

Who? When? What? Why? Questions flew across the hall as students racked their brains, conferred with teammates and eagerly jumped in with answers.

The event was dedicated to the birth anniversary of Late Lion Philip Shah, whose selfless contributions helped shape several educational initiatives of the club.

Beyond the hall, the event found a wider audience. Coverage in Hindustan Times, Mumbai Tarun Bharat, Janmabhoomi, Kesari, KVO Khabar Patrika and other publications brought the program — and Lions’ focus on youth education — into the public eye.

Like many Lions events, The Big Brain Battle was made possible through the efforts of club members, volunteers, sponsors, schools and supporters who worked behind the scenes.

In May 2026, The Big Brain Battle 2025 received the RISE Club Excellence Award for Outstanding Activity of the Year at the MD 3231 Convention in Goa.

Education has always been one of the ways Lions invest in the future. Initiatives like these show what that investment can look like — curiosity encouraged, confidence built and young minds given a stage.
