Lions Off to a Roaring Start in Hong Kong

The World Meets in Hong Kong

More than 18,000 attendees from 140 countries gathered at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong for the 108th Lions International Convention. Across five days, Lions and Leos reconnected with friends, exchanged ideas and celebrated a year of service that reached communities around the world.

A Year of Global Impact

The convention offered a moment to reflect on the scale of that service. From July 2025 through June 2026, more than 1.4 million Lions and Leos helped serve over 345 million people worldwide. Lions Clubs International Foundation also raised more than US$84 million to support humanitarian efforts.

“As I reflect on this past year, I am filled with gratitude and pride for the remarkable work Lions and Leos have accomplished together,” said 2025-2026 Lions Clubs International President and current LCIF Chairperson A.P. Singh. “Whether responding to local challenges, supporting those in need, or advancing our global causes, Lions’ dedication has created a lasting impact on countless lives. I have witnessed firsthand the compassion, generosity, and determination that define our association. Together, we have accomplished extraordinary things, and I am confident the best is yet to come.”

Shared Moments, New Perspectives

The program brought together celebration and reflection. Musicians and performers took the stage, while Lions set a Sustainable Development Goals World Record for the first global tai chi event, with participants from six continents. Seminars and a keynote address by author Mahatria Ra invited members to consider their purpose, responsibilities and growth as individuals and community leaders.

Service in the Host City

Convention participants also served communities in Hong Kong. Lions and Leos packed food and hygiene supplies for families with limited incomes, sewed handmade crafts for older people, and donated towels and washcloths to people in need. The convention honoured Khalsa Aid International with the Lions International Humanitarian Award and celebrated the winners of the Peace Poster and Peace Essay contests. (See Page 31)

A New Lion Year Begins

Mark S. Lyon of Connecticut, USA, was elected International President for 2026–2027. A longtime member of Brookfield Lions Club, he begins his term with a focus on growing membership, supporting LCIF and helping clubs respond to needs in their communities.

“I am honoured to embark on this journey alongside more than 1.4 million Lions and Leos around the world,” said Lyon. “The future of Lions is bright because of the passion and determination of our members. I look forward to working together to expand our impact, strengthen our global network, and create even more opportunities to serve. By building on our proud legacy and embracing new possibilities, we will continue changing lives and making a difference in communities around the world.”
