A Green Rush of Ideas

Members of Indore Leo Club combined environmental service with adventure, play and shared experiences.

Can planting saplings become an adventure? Can seed dispersal turn into a spirited challenge? And can a walk through the forest bring people closer to both nature and one another?

For the Indore Leo Club, District 3233-G1 the answer was an enthusiastic yes.

Through Green Rush, the Leos set out to make environmental service more participatory, creative and memorable. Instead of treating each activity as a standalone task, they built an experience around it—one that would encourage people to join in, enjoy themselves and remember the purpose behind the activity.

Saddle & Saplings combined a plantation activity with the excitement of horse riding, bringing adventure and environmental service into the same experience.

The Seed Ball Throw Challenge transformed seed-ball preparation and dispersal into an interactive activity. The element of friendly competition helped introduce participants to natural regeneration.

With the Forest Treasure Hunt & Potluck, the Leos added discovery and companionship to environmental service. Participants explored the forest, followed clues, planted saplings and then came together over a shared meal. It offered time in nature as well as an opportunity to build friendships.

Green Rush also entered classrooms through Green Quizzes in Schools. Interactive questions encouraged students to think about sustainability and made environmental learning livelier and easier to remember.

Each activity had its own flavour, its own experience and its own story, but the purpose remained the same: Don’t just serve the planet. Create an experience around the service that people remember.

Green Rush was the Leos way of adding a little creativity to the cause, a little adventure to the action and a lot of heart to the service. Because who said Service cannot be fun?
