As March arrived in Khamgaon, anticipation filled the air. For the twelfth consecutive year, Khamgaon Lions Club of District 3234-H2 transformed the Government Polytechnic College grounds into a vibrant hub of activity with their signature project: Lions Expo.
From March 6-11, 2025, the Govt. Polytechnic College Ground at Khamgaon came alive as thousands of visitors flocked to an event they had been eagerly awaiting since the new year began. The Lions Expo isn’t just another exhibition – it’s where the community comes together to shop, enjoy local food, watch performances, and support a cause that directly helps their neighbors.
The six-day event which brings together commerce, culture, and compassion, was inaugurated by Shri Akash Fundkar, Minister of Labour, Government of Maharashtra in the presence of District Governor Girish Sisodia, LCIF Area Leader T.V. Shravankumar, PDG Dr. Ashok Bawaskar, and Vice District Governor Ashwin Kumar Bajoria.
The commercial zone housed over 100 stalls showcasing everything from consumer goods and home appliances to electric vehicles and agricultural equipment. This platform provided opportunities for established brands and emerging entrepreneurs alike to connect with the community.

Families found joy in the amusement zone, where attractions like the Giant Wheel, Tora Tora and Toy Train created moments of delight for visitors of all ages. Meanwhile, the food zone featured 40 stalls representing culinary traditions from across India, satisfying diverse palates and creating a sensory celebration of flavor.
Beyond commerce and entertainment, the Expo celebrated local talent through competitions in handwriting, drawing, singing, dancing, and theatrical performance. These activities engaged students and youth, nurturing their creative abilities while connecting them with Lions’ service mission.
The event’s impact extended far beyond the six days of festivities. With approximately 50,000 visitors and outreach to nearly one million people through various promotional efforts, the Expo significantly raised awareness of Lions Clubs International’s humanitarian work.
An Expo With A Vision
Proceeds from the Lions Expo directly support the Lions Eye Hospital established by the club in 2016. This facility provides daily care to 40-50 patients and has performed over 2,000 cataract surgeries to date. The hospital also organizes screening camps in remote areas and provides free treatment to underprivileged patients at the hospital. The funds raised will enhance medical facilities, improve infrastructure, and expand amenities for patients.

“What makes this event special is how it brings together service and celebration,” noted Club President Shankar Pardeshi. “Through the Expo, we not only serve those in need, but also strengthen community bonds and inspire others to join our mission.”

Multiple Council Chairperson Sunil Desarda was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. Also present on the occasion were Second Vice District Governor Rahul Ausekar and other dignitaries.
As visitors departed on the final evening of March 11, the impact of Lions Expo 2025 remained in the community – in strengthened local businesses, in cultural connections formed, and most significantly, in the continued services at Lions Eye Hospital where countless patients will regain their sight. Beyond the stalls and performances, this six-day celebration embodied what Khamgaon Lions Club has cultivated for 49 years: a commitment to service that transforms both the giver and receiver.
