SITARE 2026: When the District Became Family

Some gatherings end when people head home. Others stay around a little longer — in group chats, inside jokes, and stories that keep resurfacing weeks later. SITARE 2026 belonged firmly in the second category.

District President Leo Lion Shivani Shah envisioned the event as a celebration of the people she considered the true stars of District A2 — the Leos themselves. At its heart was a desire to bring together the people who make the district what it is and give them space to know one another beyond meetings, projects and club roles.

Jointly hosted by the Leo Clubs of Chembur Icon, Ghatkopar and Bombay Garodia Nagar, the event took place on May 9 and 10, 2026, at The Campolian Club, Khopoli. More than 120 Leos arrived — and over the next two days, the district felt a little smaller and a lot closer.

The overnight format was a first for the district, and it changed the rhythm of things. With nowhere to rush off to, conversations stretched, groups mixed, and familiar circles slowly widened. Clubs that usually met across projects and district events found themselves sharing meals, stories and deep conversations. By the time the pool party was in full swing, unfamiliar faces had already begun to feel familiar.

Awards Night brought a different energy. The room settled as clubs and individuals stepped forward to be recognised — not simply for achievements on paper, but for dedication, service and contributions that others had witnessed firsthand. Every round of applause felt earned rather than obligatory.

As the evening wore on, music took over. People who had arrived as acquaintances found themselves on dance floors and in each other’s photographs. Somewhere along the way, club identities seemed to matter a little less than the feeling of simply being part of one larger group.

Perhaps that was SITARE’s real success. For two days, Leo District 3231-A2 felt less like a network of clubs and more like what it has always called itself — a family.
