Khilchipur Leo Club Brings Eye Care Closer to Home

Khilchipur Leo Club organized an eye camp at the Community Health Centre, making quality eye care accessible to local residents. The camp was inaugurated with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by senior doctor Shri Sumit Kumar Singhi.

Camp Coordinator Pradeep Gupta reported that of the 310 patients examined during the day, 208 received medicines, 85 were given spectacles, and 95 patients were referred for surgery at the Sadguru Sankalp Netra Chikitsalaya in Anandpur. Dr. Anil Patel, who had travelled from Anandpur, conducted the examinations and advised on treatment plans.

The camp saw active participation from both Leo leaders and Lions. By offering diagnosis, treatment, and referrals in one place, the initiative helped ensure that patients from Khilchipur and nearby villages could access timely eye care without the barrier of travel.

Bhopal Sarvodaya Leo Club: Youth in Action

It has been a busy quarter for the Bhopal Sarvodaya Leo Club. Here’s a snapshot of their major activities.

Planting Futures

On July 6, 2025, the club launched its three-month campaign to green its surroundings and promote sustainability. Chief Guest Dr. Purushottam Sharma highlighted the need for environmental conservation. The campaign began with the planting of saplings near Panchdev Durga Mandir and Jawahar Hostel, Barkatullah University, Bhopal. Club President Nishant Upadhyay and members actively participated in the drive, setting the tone for the weeks ahead.

The spirit of service was just as strong at the club’s blood donation drive at AIIMS Hospital, where members contributed to saving lives by donating blood for patients in need.

Green Action

On August 23, 2025, Bhopal Sarvodaya Lions and Leo Clubs teamed up with Bhopal Samriddhi Lions Club to begin work on a permanent Lions Garden at the BUIT campus of Barkatullah University. The first phase saw the planting of 20 Ashoka, 4 Vidya, and over 100 Mehndi saplings, with plans to expand the garden throughout the year.

Building Minds

Education and empowerment are also on the agenda. In partnership with Shaheed-e-Azam Sports Foundation and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Educational Center, the club is supporting the Shaheed-e-Azam Shiksha Mission. The program offers free coaching for Classes 1–10 and martial arts training every Sunday at Dharmapriya Shravasti Buddha Vihar.

Clean & Green

Most recently, on September 6, 2025, members of the club joined hands with the Bhopal Municipal Corporation for a cleanliness drive at Shahpura immersion ghat during Anant Chaturdashi and Ganesh Visarjan. The initiative raised awareness on environmental protection and the importance of waste segregation. Guided by Lion Dr. Anshu Singh MJF, the program was successfully completed with the active support of the Club team.
